Text Message Scams Are Annoying and Costly
It seems that nowadays regardless if you receive a phone solicitation, email spam, or even a text message spam, there is always someone waiting to scam you out of money. However, of all the types of scams out there, text message scams can be exceptionally annoying, especially considering the fact that most cellular subscribers are charged for each text message they receive.
A common text message spam that many cell phone users have recently been complaining about is the text message spam for yougotcrushedon.com. Cell phone users have been receiving frequent text messages pointing them to a pay-for-access flirting/dating site called yougotcrushedon.com. This website does exist, but is nothing more than a spam site. The actual text message is very vague and says very little, such as “You got crushed on”, and then includes the website.
If you receive this spam, or any other spam message, do not go to the website advertised, because it is simply a scam. Instead, the first thing you should do is call your cell phone provider to let them know of your experience, and ask for suggestions. It is likely that your provider will tell you to reply to the text with the message “quit” in an attempt to stop the spam. However, if this doesn’t work, and you do not have unlimited text messaging, you may want to consider deleting the text message service from your phone, especially if you don’t use this feature often.
Text messaging spam can cost a cell phone user a lot of money – money that their cell phone provider may not reimburse them for. Therefore, you need to make sure you take care of text messaging spam problem if one occurs. Also, make sure you warn your friends and relatives who have cell phones about the scam you experienced. The more awareness that is raised, the sooner the scammers can be caught and stopped.
Don’t let spam get out of a hand, and don’t fall for scams. Protect yourself and stop telemarketers and annoying calls, and let others know about your spam/scam experiences.
